Decorating (and eating!) eggs is a springtime tradition for many families -- in fact, every year, U.S. egg sales jump from approximately 75 million to 100 million dozen eggs sold per week during the Spring holiday season. So, if you're one of the many shoppers buying eggs during the next few weeks, don't forget to add these easy-to-find, "humane" egg brands to your grocery list:
- Born Free (Certified Humane and Cage Free and USDA Organic)
- Cyd's Nest Fresh (Certified Humane)
- Egg Innovations (Certified Humane and Cage Free)
- Eggland's Best (American Humane Certified)
- Eggology (Certified Humane and Cage Free and USDA Organic)
- Giving Nature (Certified Humane)
- Go-Organic Omega 3 (Certified Humane and Cage Free and USDA Organic)
- Land O'Lakes (Cage Free and USDA Organic)
- Nellie's Nest (Certified Humane and Cage Free)
- Pete & Gerry's (Certified Humane and Cage Free and USDA Organic)
- Phil's Fresh Eggs (American Humane Certified)
- Sunrise Fresh (Certified Humane and Cage Free)
These brands are marked with 'Certified Humane,' 'American Humane Certified' or 'Animal Welfare Approved' claims, meaning the eggs came from chickens who were humanely raised, not on a factory farm. By simply choosing to buy these egg brands, you can make a powerful difference in the welfare of animals and the environment.

Certified humane still means that the animals beak were cut off. I don't see how that is humane.
