When you think of Las Vegas, you probably think of bright lights, loud casinos and Cirque du Soleil shows - not captive dolphins and dismal animal care. Yet, since the opening of Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage Casino-Hotel in 1990, 12 out of 18 dolphins have died under the establishment's care - an estimated 70% mortality rate! What's more - living in captivity is a very unnatural and stressful environment for any dolphin. Change.org advocates are currently petitioning for the rehabilitation and release of all the dolphins that are being held at the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat, and asking The Mirage to discontinue its dolphin program. So far, more than 60,000 people have taken action to end this senseless cruelty to dolphins - will you join these advocates and WSPA in signing the petition, too? In captivity, dolphins aren't able to feed, explore, mate or socialize as they would in their natural habitat, the ocean. Because of this, they often develop stress-related conditions such as ulcers and display stereotypical behaviors such as pacing and self-mutilation. The animal welfare issues go on and on.
please please;no more dolphin shows at mirage;it is a sign of disrespect for these creatures; does that also mean you disrespect your human customers? please, dolphins were not meant to be displayed in a habitat such as yours

I am so tired of humans hurting animals in the name of entertainment, and the greed that causes it. It's time to end this practice once and for all. Let's begin with releasing the dolfins from captivity on LAS VEGAS STRIP!

Dolphins will actually commit suicide if they cannot be free in the open ocean. The length of time they can be in captivity varies from dolphin to dolphin. It's really fitting in a town the is as corrupt as Vegas, that a beautiful wild creature has become a tourist attraction. Thumbs down.

we must stop all animal cruelty, or we will start punishing the people who hurt all our wonderful animals

The casino's care little about human life...why should they care about the life of a dolphin?...they only see $$$, and if the dolphins draw, they'll provide the attraction...
Please care..find another way to draw the gambler in..something that does not end in death for any living creature.

Any animal that is kept captive for whatever reason is WRONG. It would be like putting humans in jail for no reason! It all needs to stop. People are so selfish.

I bet they wouldn't keep there tigers somewhere like that. Why should any animal be treated like that. That's just wrong!! They deserve to be released and not held there to just die. SET THEM FREE!!

...Since we all share feelings - such as pain, pleasure, and joy - at some basic level, we as rational human beings have an obligation to contribute in whatever way we can to the happiness of other species and try our best to relieve their fears and sufferings. -DL
Animals do not exist for our entertainment and/or for our consumption. I boycott zoos and circuses and any other industry that exploits animals for fun of man. (want to see creativity of MAN!) We must change... and refuse exploit animals in any way and we must advocate for an absolute end to all industries that profit from animals' misery.
-Animal exploitation ends when we no longer view animals as property… !.
